No significant difference seen in average scores between AI/AN and Black or Hispanic students

Average scores in NAEP reading at grade 4, by race/ethnicity: 2007

Findings

  • There was no significant difference in the average scores of AI/AN fourth-graders and their Black or Hispanic peers.
  • AI/AN fourth-graders scored lower than their White and Asian/Pacific Islander peers.

NOTE: AI/AN = American Indian/Alaska Native. Black includes African American, Hispanic includes Latino, and Pacific Islander includes Native Hawaiian. Race categories exclude Hispanic origin. View complete data with standard errors.
